Become a memberAlberto Vázquez’s UNICORN WARS blends rainbow-coloured visuals with brutal violence, creating a jarring portrait of senseless, authoritarian conflict. This Spanish-language animation juxtaposes cuddly teddy bears and mystical unicorns in a savage war, evoking a twisted fusion of BAMBI and APOCALYPSE NOW. What begins with dark humour steadily descends into psychological horror. A new generation of naïve teddy-bear recruits is indoctrinated, drugged, and sent to die in the Magic Forest, where innocence is destroyed. Through its deceptively beautiful animation style, the film interrogates religious fanaticism, militarised indoctrination, inherited trauma, and the corrosive effects of fascist ideology on the human psyche. The film will be briefly introduced by Norwich University of the Arts Animation Lecturer, Dr Anna Blagrove. Following the film there will be a panel discussion with animators and academics.
