A once-in-a-generation movie, and the first film in history shot entirely with IMAX cameras, Nolan brings this seismic story to the screen in the way only he can. Telling the story of battle-worn Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, and his decade-long journey home after the Trojan War, The Odyssey sees Nolan assemble a remarkable cast for his mythic action epic. Leading the line is Oscar winner Matt Damon, who steps up from supporting roles in Nolan's sci-fi Interstellar and Oppenheimer to play Odysseus.
Joining him is Oscar winner Anne Hathaway as Odysseus's loyal and iron-willed queen, Penelope, and Tom Holland as their brave and devoted son, Telemachus. This is just a fraction of the film's dazzling A-list cast, which includes Zendaya, Oscar nominee Samantha Morton, Robert Pattinson and Academy Award winners Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron.
It's an incredible roster of talent on hand to tell a thrilling adventure tale of gods and monsters, as Odysseus and his warriors face tests of courage, valour and endurance if they are to return home.
Once again, Nolan and Academy Award-winning co-producer Emma Thomas are re-teaming with some of the most revered and acclaimed artists working in film today – Oscar-winning cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, Oscar-nominated production designer Ruth De Jong, and three-time Academy Award-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, all of whom worked on Oppenheimer.
Filmed all across the globe, with the production visiting Morocco, Iceland, Scotland, Greece, Italy and the United States, Nolan's film brings Odysseus's story from ancient Greece to modern audiences in a way that is certain to be the most mind-blowing, breathtaking film of the year. Make sure you journey to the Picturehouse to see it as intended – on the biggest screen possible.
